Saints Give Strong Showing at Escape the Rock

by Jack Franko '18
The varsity wrestling team took 14th place at the highly competitive Escape the Rock Tournament in Pennsylvania. Captains DT Badley '17 and Tanner Hood '17 both reached the podium alongside sophomores Connor Alexander and Jackson Turley.

Turley lost in the quarterfinals to the top-ranked wrestler in the country in the 160-pound weight class, but impressed head coach Ross Gitomer who called Turley a "scoring machine."

"Jackson Turley is wrestling with a ton of [confidence]," said Gitomer.

Badley placed third after multiple come-from-behind wins against highly-ranked opponents.

Back in the Richmond-area, Jeff Moore '20 finished second at 195 in the Battle at Dinwiddie. John Flood '19 placed third at 138 as he continues to battle back from his tough injury last season.

The Saints will take on Battlefield High School in a dual match in Carter Gymnasium on Friday at 6 PM on Senior Night. DT Badley, Bo Williamson, James Armstrong, and Tanner Hood will be honored at their last home match as StC wrestlers.
