Saints dominate STAB in Homecoming Game

by Jonathan Phares '20

The varsity football team earned its first win of the season after ripping St. Anne's-Belfield 48-6 Saturday on Knowles Field during Homecoming.

The Saints started off hot, as QB John Damgard '17 handed it off to the young RB, Hartley Jordan '19,  for a 1-yard touchdown. The Saints continued to score, as both Jens Ames '18 and Justin Jasper '18 made it into the endzone for six by the end of the 1st quarter.

45 seconds into the 2nd quarter, Damgard hit Jasper for 7 yards, giving the Saints an early 28-0 lead over STAB. STAB finally got on the board after QB Jayle Alexander threw to WR Myles Ward for a 19-yard TD pass.

To STAB's dismay, the Saints blocked their PAT. This would be STAB's only score of the day. The Saints ended up scoring once again in the first half when Damgard completed a TD pass to Hayden Mitchell, putting them up 35-6.

The 3rd quarter had very little action, until Damgard threw to Jasper for his 3rd TD of the day. This put the Saints up 35-6 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

At the start of the fourth quarter, Dambagrd handed it off to Jackson Begley '17 for a 6-yard TD rush.

The Saints look to earn their second win of the season next Friday at Norfolk Academy.
