Off the Field
Our athletes benefit from the expertise of two full-time Strength and Conditioning coaches with varied experience at both the college and high school level.

Coach Bob Blanton was an Olympic weightlifter in the 1970s as well as a strength consultant to the NBA's Washington Bullets.  In 1987, he coached Olympic lifts at University of Virginia, and in 1988 coached at the Olympic Training Center, helping prepare teams for the 1988 Olympic games.  In 1990, Blanton became a National Strength and Conditioning Association certified strength and conditioning specialist and served as a consultant to the University of Richmond throughout the 1990s.  He coached the Richmond Rage women's professional basketball team from 1996 to 1998.  Blanton is owner of Total Training, Inc. and has coached numerous professional athletes from the MBL, NBA, pro tennis, NFL, WNVA, pro soccer (men's and women's) as well as college athletes in various sports. Coach Shad Pospahala brings both independent school and collegiate coaching experience to the program, having worked most recently at University of Virginia for seven years as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Cavalier football team. While at UVA, he also served as Head Strength Coach for the wrestling, men’s soccer and men’s tennis teams. While in Charlottesville, Pospahala also developed and implemented programs for various student athletes at St. Anne’s Belfield, including UVA standout, 2007 Hendricks Award winner, and NFL defensive end Chris Long.
