Music Ensembles, Classes and Private Instruction Hit the Right Notes

With a strong tradition of musical excellence, students can find their voice at St. Christopher’s. Walking the halls of our Arts Center, you can find students playing trumpet in the concert band or cello in the orchestra, practicing piano on a Steinway grand in one of our many practice rooms, or studying songwriting or recording technology with a professionally acclaimed member of our faculty.

  • Lower School

    Beginning in 2nd grade, students can access a wide variety of performing arts ensembles. These ensembles are in addition to classroom music classes that all Lower School boys engage in each week.

    Lower School ensembles include: strings for 2nd through 5th grade, third grade percussion, concert band for 4th through 5th grade, 3rd and 4th grade guitar, a variety of choirs beginning in 3rd grade and 5th grade handbells.
  • Middle School

    Middle School electives offer opportunities for musical exploration and collaboration including award-winning choirs.

    Boys can join: 5th and 6th grade choir, band or strings, or 7th and 8th grade choir, band or strings. In addition, there's a new selective, joint choir with St. Catherine's, Viale D'acero.
  • Upper School

    Students can develop their craft through extensive performance opportunities including glee club and Beaux Ties A Capella group, expanded ensemble offerings and a variety of elective courses. 

    Ensemble offerings in coordination with St. Catherine's include: concert band, jazz band, jazz/rock rhythm band, select choir Saints Singers, orchestra and chamber orchestra.

    Elective courses for Upper School students include but are not limited to: AP Music Theory, History of American Popular Music, Songwriting workshop, Rock & Roll Revolution and Fundamentals of Music Theory.

Private Music Lessons

In addition to JK - 12th Grade classroom and ensemble music, St. Christopher's offers the opportunity for students to study specific instruments privately for an additional fee.
